Ian won 2nd place at the pinewood derby on Tuesday evening. I was just glad he had a car to race. Dad procrastinated until the day before the race to begin working on the car. Our race this year was an adventure. Our cubmaster received a call the night before the race and was told that they refinished the floors in the gym and no one was allowed in the gym for 10 days. We ended up having the first part of the race outside but due to rain we all scrammbled inside and finished the race in the hall/primary room. Frustrating for the leaders but the boys had a great time!

I'm Unique!

I have a couple of friends that have this on their blog. I was suprised to find out that there is no one in the U.S. with my first name. I've heard of a few Jayleen's/Jaylene's...I guess I'm unique. It said that there is 5,565 with my last name and it is statistically the 6374th most popular last name. I always wanted a popular name when I was little, Sarah was my favorite, but it's kind of fun having a name that you don't hear of often.

Little Monkey

I think our family room has turned into a jungle gym. Morgan has recently learned how to climb up on the couch. Having leather sofas makes it a lot easier for her to grab the cushions and lift her little legs. She loves to bounce all around fall backwards a giggle with delight. I used to be able to put her in the family room with the gate up and keep my eye on her from the kitchen. Not any more though...she definitely keeps us on our toes, she's our little Monkey!

Delicious Cookies

My mom was in town this last weekend watching my sisters kids. They made me these delicious melt-in-your-mouth shortbread cookies, aren't they adorable?

Scotch Shortbread:

1 cup butter

1/2 cup powdered sugar sifted

2 cups white flour

Combine butter and powdered sugar, add flour, press in a jelly roll pan - spread the dough as evenly as possible. Prick with a fork and chill for 1/2 hour. Cut while still warm. Cut into diamond shapes. These are especailly good when the ends are dipped in chocolate

It's a nice change of pace from my regular calls, and people are generally happy and excited to order a bouquet of beautiful flowers for their Moms, grandmas, daughters and friends. I wish I could afford to send ALL the Moms I know some flowers, but unforutantley this will have to do:

A Year in Review!

All Curled up

I love watching my kids sleep. I could spend hours sitting by their bedside watching them. I captured this picture last night on my way to bed. I love how babies can curl up with their little bums in the air and their feet tucked in.
